John Wayne Portrait
Titled “Life Is Hard”
Museum-Quality Fine Art Prints on Canvas & Archival Paper
From an Original Hand-Painted Artwork by Marnie Miller (Texas, b. 1971)

Bold, honest, and unapologetically true, Life Is Hard is a powerful tribute to John Wayne — the embodiment of grit, integrity, and old-school American values. This portrait doesn’t just depict The Duke; it captures the lessons he lived by and the words that shaped generations.
Rendered in rich, expressive color, John Wayne stands front and center, steady and unflinching. Surrounding him are hand-painted quotes — hard-earned truths about courage, humility, responsibility, and perseverance. The layered typography becomes part of the narrative, wrapping the portrait in wisdom, humor, and quiet strength. This is a piece that speaks — and keeps speaking — long after you walk away.
This artwork began as a completely hand-painted original on canvas, created the traditional way with brush, paint, and intention. No digital processes. No AI. No shortcuts. Every fine art print is reproduced directly from the original painting, preserving the bold color, expressive brushwork, and meaningful text with museum-quality precision.
Available Print Options
Museum-quality canvas prints (rolled, gallery wrapped, or professionally framed)
Premium fine art rag cotton paper prints with a 2" white mat, UV-protective plexiglass, and professional mounting and framing
Printed with archival inks for lasting vibrancy and collector-level longevity
Select works may also be available as signed and numbered limited editions. Collectors are always welcome to inquire.
If you don’t see the exact size, color palette, medium, or framing option you’re looking for, I would love to work with you personally to create the perfect piece for your space. I truly enjoy custom work — it allows conversation, connection, and often the beginning of a lasting collector relationship. Buying art here feels personal… like making a new friend in Texas.

Care instructions

Original art is usually a mixture of mediums ranging from watercolor, oil, acrylic and textiles... Sometimes leaves and sticks. The creative process is most unpredictable. Each piece is well protected with three coats of heirloom quality clear acrylic and will not yellow or discolor over time. I cant stress the importance of protecting you original art from water damage, excess moisture, condensation or extreme heat. I don't recommend glass over any original artwork unless it is recessed in a shadow box type frame. When framing prints, be sure to use only acid free materials and galvanized or stainless metals. If you have questions about mounting, hanging or storing your art, don't hesitate to message me. I'm here to help.
