Silent Night
Original Art by Marnie Miller
Museum-Quality Fine Art Prints on Canvas & Archival Paper from an Original Hand-Painted Artwork by Marnie Miller (Texas, b. 1971)
Painted in honor of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW).
Silent Night is a solemn, powerful tribute to Indigenous women—those lost, those still missing, and those who stand in unwavering strength for justice, remembrance, and change. In this work, a gathering of Native American women stands together around a fire at night, facing away from the viewer in silence. Their posture is not submission—it is resolve. Their stillness is not absence—it is unity.
This painting speaks without faces, without voices, and without spectacle. Instead, it communicates through presence, symbolism, and collective strength. Each woman is wrapped in a blanket carrying sacred meaning—stories of mourning, protection, rage, prayer, transformation, and hope. Together, they form a unified vigil: standing shoulder to shoulder, honoring those who are gone and fighting for those still here.
The fire behind them glows as both witness and spirit—representing remembrance, ancestral presence, and the enduring light of truth. The darkness surrounding the group reflects the silence that has too often been forced upon Indigenous women, while their gathering pushes back against it with dignity and solidarity.
This is not a decorative piece.
It is a statement.
A prayer.
A call to witness.
Silent Night asks the viewer to slow down, to feel the weight of absence, and to acknowledge the strength of women who refuse to disappear—even when the world has tried to look away.
Painted entirely by hand, this original work was created with deep respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions, and lived realities. Every mark, color, and symbol was placed intentionally. This piece is meant to be studied, contemplated, and honored.

Care instructions

Original art is usually a mixture of mediums ranging from watercolor, oil, acrylic and textiles... Sometimes leaves and sticks. The creative process is most unpredictable. Each piece is well protected with three coats of heirloom quality clear acrylic and will not yellow or discolor over time. I cant stress the importance of protecting you original art from water damage, excess moisture, condensation or extreme heat. I don't recommend glass over any original artwork unless it is recessed in a shadow box type frame. When framing prints, be sure to use only acid free materials and galvanized or stainless metals. If you have questions about mounting, hanging or storing your art, don't hesitate to message me. I'm here to help.
